Ramboll Marzipanfabrik

As Managing Director of PLY atelier, I oversaw the design and implementation of Ramboll’s new Hamburg office. The process was guided by sustainability, flexibility, and the question of how spatial design can foster creativity, communication, and well-being.In close collaboration with the employees, a contemporary workspace was developed—one that can accommodate teams of different sizes, enable spontaneous meetings, and encourage informal exchange.

Homezones, lounges, and meeting areas form a flexible sequence that supports collaboration while still offering moments of retreat. The result is an office that strengthens company culture and remains adaptable to future change—a model for resilient and forward-looking work environments at Ramboll.

Sustainability is reflected in both materials and interior concept: built-in elements were crafted from locally sourced timber; floors are finished with linoleum and cork impact insulation, complemented by recycled carpets in the meeting zones. Wood wool panels improve acoustics and indoor climate while keeping the concrete ceilings visibly exposed. Plants enhance the atmosphere and create vivid contrasts with the robust materials.Furniture and lighting were selected for durability and regional manufacturing — for example, the modular shelving system by System 180 from Berlin or the Ayno lamps produced by the Hamburg-based manufacturer Midgard.

Together, these elements form a work environment that unites ecological responsibility with functional flexibility —
creating a place for productive, creative collaboration.
