Redesign of a Law Firm

When lawyers leave their private offices …
Lebuhn & Puchta is one of the leading commercial law firms in Hamburg, with the ambition of being among the best in their field. The firm’s main areas of practice include maritime commercial law as well as corporate and insurance law. In addition, the firm has long-standing expertise in logistics and transport (including aviation and inland shipping), international trade, as well as renewable energy and plant engineering.

How fitting, then, is the beautiful view over Sandtorhafen and down the river Elbe.

Our task in the redesign was to create spaces that can be used collectively. For lawyers, the private office is almost irreplaceable – yet a law firm is also a team of colleagues who need to exchange ideas in order to develop shared perspectives and learn from one another. Often, this exchange takes place informally, in conversations that feel almost private.
For this reason, we moved the kitchen to the centre of the layout and relocated it to the entrance area. In addition, a library was created as a “quiet” place of communication, where colleagues can encounter each other while conducting research.

Beyond these interventions, the firm’s interior design was comprehensively updated: new flooring, a revised colour scheme, modernised restrooms and redesigned meeting rooms now shape the overall appearance.
